Fr Steven Costello, LC is now the newest member of our community in Raleigh. He arrives from the Legionary community in Northern Virginia, where he taught several courses at Divine Mercy University. He will continue to teach a course remotely this semester, and therefore his time will be divided. When not preparing lectures and teaching, he will help Father Stephen Ellis as Assistant Chaplain to Regnum Christi, preaching open retreats, RC monthly retreats, tridua of renewal, and offering spiritual direction. For now, Fr Steven will specifically be available to the RC members in the Greensboro area for spiritual direction and is available to attend in spiritual direction virtually.
Father Steven hails from the Florida Space Coast, Prior to enterng the Legionaries of Christ in 2000, he majored in Music Education at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. His main instrument is trombone, and like many trombone players, he particularly enjoys Mahler’s Symphonies.
He was ordained a priest on December 12, 2011 in Rome. He went on to earn a licentiate (STL) and doctorate in Sacred Theology (STD) from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute in Washington, DC. Soon thereafter, he began teaching theology courses at Divine Mercy University in Sterling, VA.
Some of his particular interests are exploring the New Evangelization through “The Way of Beauty,” helping others discover more deeply their own identity in Christ, exploring ways to transmit those life-changing truths in their professional and social lives so they can in turn pass them on to others.
Fr. Steven is excited to join the Raleigh community and to serve in North Carolina. For those who are interested, you can email him at:
